LinkedIn Connections on Steroids

What you are going to learn about is how to get a lot of connections from LinkedIn.com.  I am going to show you LinkedIn Connections on Steroids.

In any business, we are learning that LinkedIn is a tremendous way to get leads.  It's a networking superstar and anyone who is not using (business or individual) is missing out it a huge way.

Now having said all this, don't sign up for LinkedIn and start blasting people with spam content that will do nothing but get your account banned.  There are right ways to do things and wrong ways to do them.  I want you to do it right!

If you have never been on LinkedIn before, you notice it can be a bit overwhelming.  But casual use will give you the navigation tips you need and it will become intuitive.  It just takes practice - but not too much.

LinkedIn will naturally suggest people that you hook up with through certain triggers that you put in your profile.  It could be via email or it could be based on the industry(s) that you listed.  It's very much like Facebook in that way and Twitter also does this as well.

But once you start connecting with people, the person on the other end of the connection has a choice to state whether or not they know you.  If they choose no, LinkedIn puts you on a kind of blacklist because they don't want you hooking up with people you don't know.  It's their protection mechanism against people spamming the groups and individuals, etc.

But members want to hook up and often it's with people that they don't know but are in similar (and even sometimes competing) industries.  This gives them the ability to get familiar with different people and perhaps those connections can help each other out.

Secret #1 - The LION Doesn't Sleep Tonight

For those unfamiliar there was a song in the 60's called The Lion Sleeps Tonight by The Tokens.  So I am twisting the words on that title a bit for emphasis.  There are networks (groups) on LinkedIn that are solely dedicated to helping people connect with one another and there's kind of an unwritten rule (actually some of these networks it is written) that people should never state they don't know each other.  You'll see a reference to this as No IDK (which means don't check off the "I don't know" when you get connection).

Unfortunately, as there is always "one in every crowd" you are likely to get some people checking off the IDK even though they are part of the network.  Either they truly don't understand the concept, which could be the case, or they are just jerks that could use an attitude adjustment.  The point is it will happen, there's little you can do about, but as long as it doesn't happen too often, you should be okay.

The secret with this is to get more connections (and you should) seek out these LION groups and join them.  When you do, you will notice that many people will state that they will Accept All Invitations and No IDK which means they will not be ticking off the "I don't know" option when you connect.

You will also notice that they will be including their email addresses within the comments section of the board.  Linked in has a way of connecting via simply entering an email (or set of) addresses.  But caution is warranted here: if you just throw in a whole bunch of emails that you scraped from the internet or bought from somewhere, your account will get banned.  All of your hard work will be for nothing.  Make sure the emails that you include are ones that belong to these LION networks.

How to Find LION Networks

It's really quite simple to find these networks.  When you go to search in LinkedIn, there is a option dropdown next to the search box that allows you to choose different options.  In this case, choose groups.  Then simply type the word LION in the search box and off you go.  Start joining a bunch of these and you will soon have quite a following.

Secret #2 - There's Got To Be An Easier Way!

Connecting via the LION group is still a very time consuming process.  So I have found a way that practically automates the process for you and gets you hundreds of sign ups.  There is a service called TopLinked.com that does much of what you were trying to do above, but pretty much hands off.

Two Levels of Service

There is a free option and a paid option.  The free option allows you to download a list of emails (that you could then upload into LinkedIn).  That is useful in and of itself and will still save you a bunch of time.  You won't need to gather every email from the LION board and then add them using the connections.  LinkedIn let's you import a list of people.

The paid option will automatically add your email to the Invite Me List that you choose and the network is expanded to more than just LinkedIn.  It includes Twitter, Facebook, and Google+ as well as about 15 others.

What this means is that anyone else that downloads the list with your name is probably going to connect with you.  There are over 140,000 members on this network and many of them very active in making connections.  You can see that this will take very little to build a rather substantial following.

If you do nothing else, sign up for the free service.  The paid service is really cheap ($9.99 per month or $60 for the year).  I can tell you that I signed up today and have gained at least 100 followers all on autopilot.  I check my LinkedIn profile every 45 minutes or so and it always has new message of people either connecting with me (from my previous import) or are asking for a connection.  All this because of signing up to TopLinked.com.
